I'm going to connect a few dots for you Brad my man since I've now seen you react to and enjoy so many different songs by Irish/Scots artists and you always seem to enjoy them! The angelic sound you are hearing is a kind of 'Celtic Soul' with roots in traditional folk music. This culture has produced so many beautiful contemporary female singers with Moya Brennan (who you can hear in this song), Enya, Dolores O'Riordan of the Cranberries, Elizabeth Fraser of the Cocteau Twins, Sinéad O'Connor, Eddi Reader and Annie Lennox being just a few of the more famous examples. All these ladies incorporate traditional folk singing techniques to some extent or another.

Heh, yeah. I can hear the walking the dogs tempo in this. The dance that went with this was called "The Hustle" and the dancers in the video are dancing it. The song more or less kicked off the disco craze, at least, it pushed it into the mainstream. Uptempo easy listening with bouncy instrumentation across a jazz tinged bridge. 1975. I was in third or fourth grade and "The Hustle" was one of the dances they taught us to dance at a school event. If you watch closely you'll see a twist around twirl in the middle of the dance that more often than not led some of the kids to fall over because they were not yet tall enough to pull off the move. At any rate, listening along just now the trumpet lines remind me of Chuck Mangione "Feels So Good" from 1978. Another mid seventies disco hit heavy on the instrumentals is Silver Convention "Fly Robin Fly", but for some treats from around that same time that still hold up well, check out George McCrae "Rock Your Baby", Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose "Too Late To Turn Back Now", The Spinners "Could It Be I'm Falling In Love", and The O'Jays "Use Ta Be My Girl" from 1978.

A lot of their work is split between soundtracks for famous films and TV shows and then there is their more typical new age mixed with folk music in a mixture of English and Gaelic/Erse. It started off as a family band in the 70s. Enya is part of the family and has played with them. The film here is the last of the Mohicans, but they've done a lot of others like Robin Hood and Harry's Game.

First of all, I LOVE your shirt, Brad! Oasis was my very first concert in 1996. I saw them on the "Morning Glory" tour, and although I don't listen to them much these days, I still have a soft spot in my heart for their music.

Is this an old reaction that Bradford about a year ago on this song? I remember that Brad had done this one before solo or with Lex awhile back. But, I could be wrong, a lot of Black Keys videos and songs are similar to each other.

This song was written before the structure of a song was understood. There is no chorus or bridge, and Mike the keyboard player was the only one that could really play. And he taught every one else how to play. So for not knowing a lot of music at this point in the bands life, it's a pretty good song.
